About Tuolumne Trails’ Summer Programs
Children, teens, and adults with physical and developmental disabilities come to Camp Tuolumne Trails to take part in traditional summer camp activities and other enjoyable, enriching programs; With a sense of freedom and independence inspired by time spent outdoors in natural surroundings, campers learn and develop new interests and confidence through guided play, cultivating of social skills through various camper and staff integrated activities.
At all times, the safety and well-being of each camper is paramount and our carefully screened, qualified staff and nursing personnel meet medical, dietary, feeding, and personal hygiene care and assistance needs for each camper with respect to the dignity of all.
Many of our campers are away from their parents or caregivers and home for the first time. Our staff responds with understanding and support to help make this very important transition a success.
Our activities promote health, fitness, and independence in a nurturing environment of friendship, growth, and possibilities.
Activities Include:
- Swimming- Our accessible pool is staffed with a Red Cross Certified Lifeguard. Additional 1:1 staffing is avaliable for campers who need additional support. Pool games, group activities, and swimming free-time are popular with our campers
- Adaptive Field Games– Our experienced staff lead many fun and active games of: Soccer, Kickball, Flag Football, Bowling, Bocci Ball, Shuffleboard, Frisbee Golf, Basketball, Tetherball, Volleyball, Horseshoes, Cornhole, Field Hockey, Water Field Games, and more
- Archery- Our experienced staff lead campers in archery at our archery range
- Table/Board Games- Foosball, Billiards, Ping Pong, Bingo, Card/Board Games
- Arts & Crafts- Our experienced staff and volunteers lead programs including: Traditional Camp Crafts, Tie-Dye, Painting, Ceramics, Beading, Weaving, and more
- Horse Grooming & Feeding– We have a donkey and a miniature horse to feed and groom
- Nature Studies- Camp Out Under the Stars, Hay Rides, Short Accessible Hikes, Pond Study, Maintaining our Vegetable Garden and Compost System, Star-Gazing.
- Performing Arts– Music and Theater Warm-Ups and Activities
- Evening Programs- Opening and Closing Campfires, All-Camp Dance, Carnivals, and Talent Show to name a few
